Division 01 · April – October

Ultra Lawn — lawn care

Weekly mowing (leaves included), aeration, lawn repair, mulch installation and seasonal opening/closing. View the full division →

How often do you visit per month for mowing?
Weekly mowing in full season (8 to 12 visits between May and October depending on growth). Spacing adjusted in July/August during drought, to avoid stressing the lawn.
Is the mowing contract for the whole season?
Yes. Seasonal packages from April to October, payable in 2 or 4 instalments. No surprises, no undiscussed extras.
What if I'm on vacation during the season?
Service continues per the schedule. If you let us know, we can shift a visit or do a special pass before you return.
Is there a long-term commitment for lawn care?
None. Annual renewal on option. If you're not satisfied at month 1, we refund in full.
How much does residential lawn maintenance cost in Brossard, Longueuil or Boucherville?
On the South Shore of Montreal, an Ultra Lawn seasonal mowing package starts at $800 for a typical residential lot (weekly mowing from May to October, fall leaf cleanup included). Aeration + topdressing from $395, seasonal opening/closing from $295. Indicative prices; firm quote free after site visit.
What's the ideal cutting height for lawn on the South Shore?
Between 6.5 cm and 8 cm (2.5 to 3 inches) depending on the season: shorter in May-June (densification), longer in July-August (drought protection). Cutting shorter weakens roots and favours weeds.
What's the difference between weekly mowing and mowing every 10 days?
Weekly (spring + autumn): we never cut more than a third of the blade height, which maintains density and limits stress. Every 10 days (summer heatwave): natural growth slowdown — we space visits to avoid stressing a lawn already in survival mode.
What do you do with the grass clippings?
We mulch: the clippings stay on site, break down in a few days and feed the lawn. It's better for the soil and greener. Fall leaf cleanup, however, is included in the mowing package.
And if my lawn is too long on the first pass?
We do two successive passes at decreasing heights to avoid shocking the plant. Included in the package, no extra charge.
When is the best time for lawn aeration?
Mid-September to mid-October: soil still warm, strong root growth, fast regrowth. Spring is possible but less optimal. One visit per year is enough.
Do you pick up the cores extracted during aeration?
No: they break down in 1-2 weeks and feed the soil naturally. That's the intended effect. No action required on your part.
Is the seasonal opening/closing included in the mowing package?
No: it's a separate service because it requires far more time and equipment (blowers, rakes, dethatchers). From $295 per visit, combined spring + autumn package -10%.
Division 02 · Year-round · 24/7 emergency

Ultra Tree — pruning, removal, stump grinding

SIAQ-certified climbers, $5M insurance, municipal permits handled, 24/7 fallen-tree emergency. View the full division →

Are you insured and certified for tree work?
Yes. $5M civil liability insurance. CNESST compliance. SIAQ-certified climbers (Société internationale d'arboriculture - Québec). Certificates available on request before any project.
Do you handle municipal tree removal permits?
Yes, it's included in the removal package. Application filed with the city, follow-up, acceptance wait handled. You have nothing to do. Municipal delays: 1 to 6 weeks depending on the city.
When is the best time to prune a tree?
Most deciduous trees: dormancy (November to March). Maples and birches: summer to limit sap loss. Conifers: spring. We advise based on species and goal.
What do you do with tree debris (branches, wood)?
Everything is picked up. Usable logs left available on request (no charge on small quantities). Branches chipped on site and removed. The property leaves clean.
Do you grind the stump after removal?
Yes, as an option. In the same visit or deferred per your constraints. Grinding at least 15 cm below ground level, soil levelled to allow seeding or planting.
And in case of a fallen-tree emergency at night or weekend?
Direct line 24/7 year-round. Fast mobilization for fallen tree, threatening branch, storm damage. Immediate securing, definitive treatment planned. Typical mobilization: 90 minutes to 4 hours.
How much does tree pruning cost in Brossard, Longueuil or Boucherville?
On the South Shore of Montreal, a standard Ultra Tree pruning starts at $875 for a medium tree (up to 10-12 m). Removal + stump grinding from $1,650. Emergency: +50% on standard rate. Free firm quote after visit and risk assessment.
Do I need a municipal permit to fell a tree in Longueuil, Brossard or Boucherville?
Yes in most South Shore cities, for any tree whose trunk diameter exceeds 10 to 15 cm depending on the municipality. Ultra Tree handles the permit application for you: filing, follow-up, acceptance wait. Included in the removal package.
What's the difference between pruning and trimming (élagage vs émondage)?
In Quebec, both terms are often used interchangeably. Technically: pruning (élagage) is periodic trimming of living branches for health, safety or aesthetics. Trimming (émondage) refers more to removing dead or diseased branches. In practice, a good arborist does both in the same visit.
How long does tree removal with stump grinding take?
A medium tree (10-15 m, clear access): removal in 2-4 h, stump grinding 1-2 h additional. With section dismantling (roof, electric lines), count 6-10 h. Planning, securing and final cleanup are part of total time.
When should a tree be inspected by an arborist?
After a major storm, when fungi appear on bark or roots, in case of visible trunk cracks, dry crown branches, new leaning, or every 3-5 years preventively on mature trees. The inspection includes a written report with prioritized recommendations.
Can you touch my electric lines for pruning?
For Hydro-Québec primary conductors: no, that's their monopoly. For private service drops (pole to your house): yes, with prior coordination and insulated equipment.
Is the arborist inspection report accepted by my insurer?
Yes: our reports include SIAQ references and are recognized as expertise by Quebec insurers. Photos, risk level per tree, costed recommendations.
Does my home insurance cover fallen-tree emergencies?
Usually yes: most home policies cover emergency cutting of a tree fallen on the house. We provide detailed invoice and report for your claim.
My tree is too close to the house — can it be removed?
Yes. We dismantle by sections from top to bottom, with rigging to control each piece. It takes longer and costs more — but that's exactly what we exist for.
Division 03 · November – April · 24/7 emergency

Ultra Snow — residential and commercial snow removal

Fixed-price seasonal package regardless of weather. Adjustable de-icing, ice storm emergency, final cleanup included. View the full division →

When do you come after a snowstorm?
Visit guaranteed once precipitation has ended, normally within 4-6 h. Multiple passes possible depending on accumulation (storms over 30 cm: intermediate passes at no extra cost).
Is the snow removal price fixed regardless of the number of storms?
Yes. Seasonal package = fixed price November-April, regardless of weather. That's our risk, not yours. Mild winter or heavy winter, your amount doesn't change.
My driveway has stairs or a rooftop terrace — do you handle that?
Yes, as an option. State the specifics on the quote, we adapt (manual shovel for stairs, light electric blower for fragile terraces).
Do you use salt? My plants suffer from it.
On request, sand only or low-sodium mix. Or no spreading at all. You choose at signing, and we can adjust during the season. No surcharge for the choice of abrasive.
My dog licks his paws after the salt — alternatives?
Sand only at no surcharge. Or there are pet-safe ice melts (calcium chloride-based) that we use on request (+25%).
What if I'm a new client mid-season?
Possible with prorated adjustment. We usually have capacity through December. Beyond that, contact us: we look case by case.
What happens if you don't show up after a storm?
Impossible with our planned fleet. But in case of exceptional issue, prorated refund guarantee. A direct line is open 24/7 in season for any emergency.
How much does a residential snow removal package cost on the South Shore?
On the South Shore of Montreal, an Ultra Snow seasonal package starts at $975 for standard residential snow removal (driveway + porch + balcony), November to April, fixed price regardless of storms. With de-icing included: from $1,175. Commercial from $4,800 depending on surface.
When should I book a seasonal snow removal package in Quebec?
Ideally between August and October to secure your spot in the optimized routes. Ultra Snow accepts new clients up to December depending on remaining capacity, with prorated pricing. After January, it's case by case.
Does snow removal include salt or abrasive spreading?
Not in the base package — it's an option (about +$200 for the season). You choose: salt, sand, low-sodium mix or no spreading. The package with de-icing included covers an application at each visit + unlimited ice storm calls.
What happens during a storm over 30 cm?
For accumulations over 30 cm, Ultra Snow performs multiple passes: an intermediate during the storm (securing access), then a final pass 4-6 h after the end. No extra cost — it's included in the fixed-price seasonal package.
If I go to Florida for 2 months in winter, is there a discount?
No: service runs anyway (your home must stay cleared for insurance and street access). No adjustment or discount — a cleared driveway protects your home coverage.
What is the guaranteed response time for commercial snow removal?
Commercial standard: visit at 5 cm, on site before 7 a.m. business hours. Custom SLA for CHSLDs, ER access, 24h convenience stores. Contract states guaranteed times and penalties for misses.
Digital tracking of snow removal passes?
Each commercial pass is time-stamped with GPS and photos. Owner access via a simple portal. Useful in case of customer dispute (fall in parking lot, etc.).
Ice storm emergency service: how does it work?
Mobilization triggered by Environment Canada alert + our own readings. Targeted spreading (driveways, stairs, emergency access). Agent choice: salt, calcium, pet-safe. Included for seasonal residential clients (up to 4 mobilizations/season).
When does the end-of-winter scraping and cleanup take place?
When the snow has fully melted (variable: mid-March to mid-April). We notify you 48 h in advance. Pickup of sand, scraping of remaining ice, blowing the porch and edges.
Division 04 · April – November

Ultra Excavation — French drain, mini-excavator, site prep

Mini-excavator, camera inspection included on French drain, before/after photos, municipal permits handled. View the full division →

Do you install a complete French drain?
Yes: excavation, clean 3/4 gravel, geotextile, perforated pipe, connection to sump pit or city, backfill. Camera inspection before closure to validate the slope and flow.
What are the lead times for excavation work?
French drain: 2-3 days. Driveway prep: 1-2 days. Small jobs: a day. Estimate confirmed after visit and soil study. Mobilization 2-4 weeks depending on season.
Do you work in winter for excavation?
Excavation stops in November (ground frost) and resumes in April. Emergencies only from December to March (sewer back-up, collapsed drain, major damage).
Will the property be left clean after excavation work?
Yes. Backfilling, levelling, grass seeding on disturbed areas, pickup of all debris. Before/during/after photos provided at end of project.
Do your excavation prices include soil removal?
Yes for standard volumes. If contaminated soil is detected on site, a complementary study and a specialized landfill may be required: it's clearly stated in the quote.
How much does a French drain cost in Brossard, Longueuil or Boucherville?
On the South Shore of Montreal, a complete Ultra Excavation French drain starts at $4,800 for a standard house. Price depends on foundation length, depth, site access and soil type. Excavation, clean 3/4 gravel, geotextile, perforated pipe, connection and camera inspection included.
When should I replace my French drain?
Warning signs: basement infiltration, water seeping on the floor, white spots (efflorescence) on foundation walls, water backup around the house, waterlogged soil. Typical lifespan: 30-40 years. A camera inspection confirms the real condition.
What's the difference between French drain and sump pump?
The French drain evacuates water passively by gravity toward the sump pit or storm sewer. The sump pump is installed INSIDE that pit and mechanically expels water when it reaches a threshold. Both work in tandem: drain for collection, pump for forced evacuation if the property is too flat.
Do I need a municipal permit to install a French drain?
In most South Shore cities (Brossard, Longueuil, Boucherville, Saint-Lambert), yes — especially if excavation modifies the connection to municipal sewer or the property's drainage slope. Ultra Excavation handles the application, filing and follow-up. Municipal delays: 1 to 6 weeks.
How long does a complete French drain installation take?
2 to 3 business days for a standard house on the South Shore, in normal conditions (loose soil, clear access). Add a day if clay soil, major roots to work around, or specific landscape backfill.
What warranty do you offer on French drain installation?
10 years on installation. The camera inspection video provided before backfill proves the quality of the work (slope, gravel lay, geotextile, connection).
Does your mini-excavator fit through a standard yard gate?
Our mini-excavator fits 90 cm. For tighter access (60-70 cm), we use our micro-excavator (+10% on the rate). Info-Excavation utility marking included.
What happens if you hit bedrock during excavation?
We notify you immediately before continuing. Hydraulic hammer available (separate hourly rate). No surprise on the invoice: everything is validated with you before intervention.
Do you lay the pavers or asphalt after driveway prep?
No: we prepare the sub-base (stripping, geotextile, compacted crushed stone, drainage slope). You hire your paver. But we coordinate with them to intervene in the optimal window (crushed stone still fresh). 5-year warranty on our sub-base stability.
Helical piles or concrete piles for a light foundation?
Helical: fast, clean, removable, ideal for deck and shed. Concrete: heavier, more permanent, required for heavier structures. We recommend based on use and budget. Frost depth guaranteed (1.5 m below ground), 10-year warranty against settling.
Where do demolished materials (concrete, asphalt) go?
Certified recycling centre. Crushed concrete for reuse as road sub-base. Asphalt recovered for municipal mixes. Traceability slip provided.
